This winter, the EU will face a record gas shortage. According to the publication Politico, gas reserves in the European Union's underground storage facilities currently stand at around 70%, which is the lowest level before winter since statistics began being collected in 2011. Therefore, the EU will face an overall natural gas deficit of up to 14 billion cubic meters this winter, which may force EU countries to seek gas at increasingly higher prices, the publication notes.
